Eligible CB Residents: Save Money on Property Taxes

Eligible CB Residents: Save Money on Property Taxes

The district is pleased to announce a new CBSD Property Tax Rebate Program designed to support senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and low-income homeowners and renters in our community. Through the program, eligible residents of Central Bucks can complete an application to get money back from the district when paying their CB property taxes.

Modeled after Pennsylvania’s existing property tax and rent rebate program and similar efforts in neighboring districts, this new initiative provides a rebate from the district equal to 50% of the state rebate, up to $750. For example, if a CB resident receives a property tax rebate from the state for $1,000, the resident would be eligible for a property tax rebate of $500 from Central Bucks School District. The CB rebate is not 50% of a resident's CBSD property tax bill.

Approximately 2,000 CB households already receive a state rebate and would be eligible to receive the CB rebate.

"CB’s program will be of modest cost to the district but will be very meaningful for the citizens who qualify," said CBSD Substitute Superintendent Dr. Charles Malone at the June 18 board meeting, where the rebate program was approved by the school board. "As a district, we are happy to be able to offer this rebate and encourage all individuals who qualify to take advantage and apply."

Residents who may know a family member, friend, or neighbor who qualifies are also encouraged to share this opportunity.

Who qualifies?

Applicants must have a household income of $46,250 or less per year (only half of Social Security is counted) and be one of the following:

  • 65 years or older
  • A widow or widower age 50 or older

You must also apply for and receive a state rebate.
